The UK’s famous television personality Simon Phillip Cowell was born at East Sussex, England on 7th October 1959. He is an Artists and Repertoire executive, TV producer and entrepreneur. Simon also holds a production and publishing company called Syco. He gained his fame by appearing on many TV Shows like Britain’s Got Talent, American Idol, Pop Idol and The X Factor. Cowell is also been recognized with the appearance of TV hits similar to cartoon puppets titled – The Teletubbies, Robson And Jerome, Zig and Zag. He is a well know personality in both US and UK.
Simon has an experience of over 27 years in the music industry. His first career started in 1997 at EMI Music as an A&R executive. After gaining some experience and learnt how to make a record hit, Simon and Iain Burton his partner started a new production label named Fanfare Records. It ran only for few periods but successfully. Fanfare’s parent company fold-up in the year 1989, driving Simon’s business into an economic breakdown, crushing Simon, extremely in debt and get back with his parents.
Later on the same year Simon Cowell got a chance at BMG Records as Artist and Repertoire consultant. Simon while at the BMG lead the means to some of the major selling hits in the industry, including some great bands like West Life and Five. Simon made successful act for BGM and the sales touched 150 million records and top charting 70 singles in the US and UK. Simon Cowell joined hands with Simon Fuller to produce the talent show “Pop Idol”. In this show the public decides the winner by voting the participants. This show was first released in the United Kingdom. The BGM promised record deal to the final winner. The talent show “Pop Idol” was a grand success. This show became the TV observable fact and became habitual screening, attracting over 11 million viewers. The first ever winner, Will Young, picked up 4.6 million votes in a live final.
In the year 2002 the American version with the same concept of talent show was started with the name “American Idol”. Simon Cowell appeared as one of the judge once again with the producer Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul alongside singer. The American Idol was also a grand success receiving millions of viewers for Fox Entertainment.
In spite of his successes, Simon has also turned down many bands to be a success. Some of the mainly notables are “Take That” and “The Spice”. Simon has now become a famous person in his own right, serving as a judge on both the UK and US version of the Pop Idol show. Simon spends his time connecting the UK and America, and has set up his own production company named Syco TV, which co-produced the latest breed of talent show – The X Factor. In 2006, Cowell made two record-breaking deals. In the US, he agreed to remain as a judge on American Idol, earning L20 million per series. He also signed a contract with Fox to broadcast two programs “Got Talent” and “American Inventor” on its other networks. Life changes to very sweet really for Simon Cowell. The Sunday Times Rich List recently estimated that he earned L33.5m in one year alone, thanks to the global success of the ‘Pop Idol’ brand.
