Sean Diddy Combs is the renowned American rapper, record producer, actor, entrepreneur and dancer. He is an all rounder and proved his ability in the field of men’s fashion designing field. His birth name was Sean Combs, the original name is Puff Daddy, and this was changed to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for the recording purposes.
The Bad Boy records or Bad Boy entertainments was found by Sean Diddy Combs. His other ventures include the clothing lines Sean John, a movie production company, Sean-by-Sean Combs, and two restaurants. He has also proven successful in the roles of performer, recording executive, writer, clothing designer, Broadway actor and the producer of MTV’s ‘Making the Band’ series. He is also one among the richest hip-hop performers in the world and his net value in the year 2006 was around US$346 million.
Sean Comb was born on 4 November 1969 in the New York City of United States. He took the internship from Uptown Entertainment when he was studying in the Howard University in Washington D.C. There he met Andre Harell, the former president of Bad Boy Entertainment. With that rapport and his hard work, he could easily rise up to the position of the Director of A&R, when he was just 19.
In 1991, he was successful in signing and producing the works of renowned singer Mary J. Blige and engineered the musical band Jodeci. Sean took the task of creating a rough hip-hop image for the band and that image was evocative like the Guy band of Teddy Riley. Sean Comb also influenced the image of Mary Blige by knocking in to the style and fare of the urban youth. Their combination enhanced the genre of hip-hop soul in the music. Sean Comb again went to Uptown Records but in the same year also come back to the company Bad Boy Entertainment. Notorious BIG helped the company to give a big break through the multi-platinum debut ‘Ready to Die’. Comb was successful in the works done with the Bad Boy like Dream, Faith Evans, Carl Thomas, Father MC, Total, 112 etc. He also produced the works like Usher, TLC, Lil’ Kim, Boyz 2 Men, Aretha Franklin, SWV, etc with Jodeci and Mary J Blige. He also formed the in-house production team called The Hitmen. His production of some songs in the album ‘Crazy Sexy Cool’ of TLC helped it to be the decade’s best-sold R&B album.
Sean Comb’s first commercial vocal ‘Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down’ released through Puff Daddy in 1997 was a big hit. It was in the top one position of Bill Board top 100 lists for six weeks. In 1998, his first debut album ‘No Way Out’ enabled him to win Grammy Award of the year for the best rap album. His other works include ‘We invented the Remix Vol.1’ (2002), Press Play(2006), Last Train to Paris(2009).
He is a talented artist who has won three Grammy awards and two MTV Video music awards. His clothing line has earned the Council of Fashion Designers of America award too.
