Roger Federer is a Swiss tennis player whose remarkable achievements used to rank him along the best Tennis professionals of all time. Roger Federer is the world’s number 1 tennis player as of January 2007. Many tennis players believe that Roger could be the supreme tennis player forever. Most of the tennis players accept this. Federer became the first player in 2002 won three out of four Grand Slam singles tournaments. Federer was the only player to acquire the greatest achievement in 2006 to be the number one player in the open for winning the singles championship continuously for three year. He has own not less than ten singles championship within three years.
In just 30 appearances he won Grand Slam title for 9 times in men’s singles. He has also won ATP Master Singles for 12 times and a Triple Tennis Masters Cup title. Roger is the only tennis player won both the U.S. and the Wimbledon singles titles in three repeated years, from 2004 to 2006.
His parents are Robert Federer and Lynette Federer. He considers German as his main language, but he is also fluent in the French and English languages. He always conducts his press conferences in all these three languages. Now he staying in Oberwil, Switzerland. He is considering Miroslava Vavrine a former WTA player from Swiss. She got retirement in the year 2002 from playing tennis due to an injury in the foot.. He started the Roger Federer Foundation on Dec 2003. The goals of which include funding projects that would benefit underprivileged children in South Africa. In January 2005, he started charity works for the people who were exaggerated by the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004. Federer performed in a number of tournaments as many as possible conducted for raising funds for the tsunami affected people. On April of 2006, Roger Federer was selected an Ambassador of Goodwill to UNICEF on April 2006. In December 2006 Federer officially visited India as an Ambassador on behalf of UNICEF. He visited the children in Tamil Nadu, a region in India distressed by the December 2004 tsunami.
At the age of six Roger began playing tennis. When he was 14, Federer became the Swiss champion for all age groups and he was elected to get trained at the Swiss National Tennis Center called Ecublens’. He also won his first Australian Open title when he overcomes Marat Safin. Roger Federer won the Australian Open in Jan 2006, when he beaten Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus. This victory marked his third Grand Slam Championship. At the French Open in 2006 he tried a lot to acquire Grand Slam and he also entered the competition as the top start but unfortunately lost the finals with Rafael Nadal by four sets. Rafael Nadal is the French Open Champion. Even though the French Open Championship evaded him, he became among one of the two players who were able to reach the Grand Slam finals of all singles Tournaments and the other one is Andre Agassi.
