Judge Judy SheindlinJudge Judy Sheindlin alias Judith Sheindlin is the renowned American lawyer and Judge, television personality and the author. She was born in 21 October 1942, and passed the New York Bar exams in the year 1965. She became the prosecutor in the system of family court. She was doing the prosecution of child abuse cases, juvenile crime and domestic violence. In 1976, the no-nonsense attitude in the personality and the prosecution of Sheindlin inspired the then New York Mayor, Ed Koch.

The Mayor Ed Koch later appointed her as a judge in 1980’s. She got the position of a judge first in the criminal court and later she became the supervising family court judge of Manhattan after four years. She gained much attention among the colleagues for her fast decision making capacity and the wisecracking judgements.

The CBS’ news magazine 60 Minutes featured her in the year 1990 and this was an impact of her reputation being a tough judge. That article gave her much national popularity and recognition. Her first book, ‘Don’t Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It’s Raining’ was getting publish, inspired by this article. In 1993 February, her outspoken status made her the popular topic of Los Angeles Times article and the article highlighted her as the woman well determined and dedicated to make the court system aimed for the common good. She was retired in 1996, and she made a big deal in her career, hearing more than 20,000 cases. After the retirement, also she became more and more popular.

She had also presided over a syndicated courtroom show called Judge Judy that became much popular among the public. Big Ticket Television was approaching her. In the show, she featured the real cases with the real rulings. It was debuted on 16 September 1996. She gained much public attention as the show’s ratings were always in a top position. The show was after her retirement in 1996. She again gained reputation for the stern and no-nonsense attitude and the sense of humor. The show was the only original show on the television to increase the total yearly ratings of the television. The show also got incorporated by itself to the American pop culture. The ratings of the show were averaging around ten million viewers daily. It received a special admiration among the female viewers most between the ages of twenty-five and fifty-four.

The viewers generally did not want the moral conundrums or other technical wrinkles. The show was popular because Sheindlin was successful in presenting them the fantasy of their likings for the Justice system in the operations. The viewers all like the Judge system to be swift in its operations with out any procedural mishaps or the uppity lawyers. Sheindlin was ranked thirteenth on the Forbes magazines top twenty richest women in the year 2005. Due to the popularity in her stardom, she could also judge the Miss America Pageant of 1999.
