George LucasThe American film director George Walton Lucas was born on May 14, 1944 at California. Lucas is an Academy Award nominee, a good screen writer, producer and director. He owns a production company named Luacs Film Ltd. In his early teens he was attracted in car racing and planned to become a professional race driver. But, unfortunately a terrible car accident changed his life out of his dream.

Lucas then went to the University of Southern California Film School and as a film student he made many short films like THX-1138: 4EB based on Electronic Labyinth and won the first prize at the National Student Film Festival held in the year 1967. Later he was awarded the scholarship by Warner Brothers to observe the production of Fininan’s Rainbow directed by Francis Ford Coppola. This paved way for Lucas friendship with Capola and formed a company named American Zoetrope in 1969. Then after that Lucas formed his own firm called Lucasfilm Ltd in 1973, and he wrote and directed the semi-autobiographical American Graffiti that won the Golden Globe Award in 1973.

This victory gave him much motivation to make his next project and he wrote the screenplay for Star Wars in 1977 and he also decided to make this movie and produce the visual effects by his own. Another company called Sprocket Systems was involved in editing and mix Star Wars and titled as Skywalker Sound which was tuned down by many studios and it was the huge box office hit which was a “blockbuster”. Lucas also has made other Star War films together with Steven Spielberg and created the Indiana Jones series which were also the box office hits.

Lucas married film editor Marcia Lou Griffin, and have three adopted daughters and then he divorced her and he was supposed to have relationship with Linda Ronstadt and Mellody Hobson. He would eventually recognize to have strong thoughts with the Eastern religious philosophies, which he incorporated in his movies and he presently stated that his religion was Buddhist Methodist.

Lucas attained his career as the chairman of the board of The George Lucas Educational Foundation and was awarded with the Irving G. Thalberg lifetime achievement award by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award form the Visual Effects Society. He also has achieved the nation’s highest award for technological achievement, the National Medal of Technology.
