Dr.Phil McGraw Biography

Dr. Phil McGrawDr.Phil is a television host, life strategist and Psychologist. He was born on 1950 at Oklahoma and lived in Texas. Phil grew up to 6′ft-4″inch. He got a scholarship from the University of Tulsa for football. While playing he was injured immediately he quit and moved to Midwestern State University. He completed his degree at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.  From University of North Texas, Dr.Phil finished his master’s and Ph.D. in psychology after four years gap. Phil started a practice with his father, who earned his psychology degree at the age of 40. Phil wedded Robin in his late 40s. They have two sons, Jay & Jordan.

After completing his residency, McGraw owned a construction business with his brother-in-law. He did service for a private concern. After goes to the private practice, Dr. Phil quickly realized one-on-one therapy wasn’t for him. He then opened a well-liked self-motivation seminar called Pathways. Dr.Phil starts a company called Courtroom Sciences in 1989. He started a project to help lawyers to build trial cases by means of psychology by carrying out behavioral analysis, mock trials, jury selection and mediation. It was in the course of Courtroom Sciences that Dr. Phil has met Oprah Winfrey. In 1996 Oprah was prosecuted by cattlemen. He claimed that, on one of her shows, she deprecated the beef trade. Then later Dr.Phill was requested by Oprah to sustain her trial. After helping her, he won the case in 1998. Phil became a regular specialist on Oprah, dealing with life strategies and relationships. With his slogan, “Get real,” he advised on common sense rather than self help slang. Even men are comfortable in listening his speech and his tough character made him a psychologist.

To help some guest solve their problems Dr.Phil started with his get real approach by means of “The seventh season Dr.Phil series premier”.  In this series he provided solutions to strip out their emotional disorder and move confidently ahead in their lives. Phil also continued to be a success for those who experience from silent outbreak as child abuse, racism, domestic violence, intolerance, depression, substance abuse and health issues that are prevalent in society, but go largely un-discussed by their victims. In 2002 a nationally syndicated series was opened by Dr.Phil in 2002. This show is a one hour talk which was rated to be the highest syndicated program since the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Show 16 years prior. Also he conducts motivational seminars all over the country. Dr.Phil is the author of four New York Times bestsellers. His most recent book is Family First, which was released in September 2004.

Dr.Phil starts a foundation named “The Phil foundation”. This organization is a nonprofit charitable organization. The objective of the organization is committed to helping children and families at risk, also dedicated to rewarding remarkable children who are working hard to overcome remarkable obstacles and give back to their family and community. The Foundation is another means in Dr. Phil’s magazine to fight problems that cripple our society in restrained but undeniable ways.
